Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) Days
Our district is committed to keeping learning on track—even when weather forces school closures. To reduce disruptions to the school calendar and avoid extending the school year, we’ve implemented Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) Days.
What are AMI Days?
AMI stands for Alternative Methods of Instruction. These days allow students to continue learning from home when hazardous weather prevents in-person classes. Rather than taking a traditional snow day, students will complete learning activities assigned by their teachers.
How do AMI Days Work?
- Decision & Notification: If severe weather is expected, the Superintendent may declare an AMI Day. Families will be notified as early as possible through the district website, ParentSquare, social media, and local news.
- Learning Expectations: On an AMI Day, students are expected to:
- Complete online learning activities through Google Classroom (if available)
- Use take-home packets if internet access is limited
- Reach out to teachers, who will be available during specific hours to offer help
- Submitting Work: We understand that not every student has consistent internet access. That’s why students have three school days after returning to campus to turn in AMI assignments.
- Attendance & Grades: AMI work will be graded, and if not submitted within three days, the student may be marked absent for that AMI day.
