The Mules Booster Club has named Lynn Cotrell and Landon Barks of Poplar Bluff High School the March Athletes of the Month, presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors.

Landon, a sophomore golfer, has a stroke average of 35.8 for nine holes across 14 scored rounds. He was a back-to-back individual medalist at the Notre Dame Invitational and medaled in the Farmington Invitational. In the classroom, he currently holds straight A’s, reported his coach, Tyler Davis.

“Landon is a great athlete and a great person. His character is phenomenal and his personality is enjoyable to be around,” Davis said. “He shows up every day ready to improve himself and work on his game. He has the mindset to be a leader and continues to strive for excellence for himself and his teammates.”

Lynn, a freshman track and field runner, placed first in the 400-meter dash at the SEMO Open; plus achieved first place in both the 300-meter hurdle and pole vault at the Barry Cody JV Invitational. She ranks among the top in each of the aforementioned categories at the state, sectional and district levels, while her grade point average ranks within the top 15 of her class.

“Lynn Cotrell is an outstanding freshman track athlete who excels both in the classroom and on the track,” said Elizabeth Lewis, her coach. “…A driven and coachable athlete, Lynn brings a positive attitude to every practice and meet. Her dedication, strong work ethic and supportive spirit make her not only a standout competitor, but also an exceptional teammate.”
