WHACK the flu. Wash your hands. Home is where you stay when you are sick. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Cover your coughs and sneezes. Keep you distance from people who are coughing and sneezing.
Preventing colds and flu. Wash your hands often with warm, soapy water. Drink plenty of water. Get enough sleep, exercise, and nutritious foods daily. Keep stress under control. Avoid crowds during peak flu season. Keep kitchens, bathrooms, and toys clean.
Self-Care... drink plenty of fluids, increase rest and sleep, use a humidifier to moisten the air, gargling with warm salt water to soothe sore throats, relieve nasal congestion with saline drops or sprays and avoid tobacco and alcohol.
Seek medical advice if... you have difficulty breathing, you feel faint, your sore throat is severe, you have a cough that produces a lot of colored phlegm, your symptoms last for more than 10 days or you have a sharp chest pain when you breathe deeply or cough.
