The Mules Booster Club has named Paige Bradley and Wyatt Lazalier of Poplar Bluff High School the December Athletes of the Month, presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors.

Wyatt, a senior wrestler, has a 14-5 record with nine pins. The team captain has placed at both the Tiger Classic and Patriot Classic tournaments. In the classroom, he maintains a 9.889 grade point average.

“Wyatt has done a great job this year developing on the mat,” said Kelton Thompson, his coach. “Wyatt is a great student and leads by example.”

Paige, a junior swimmer, was a state qualifier for the 2018/19 season, with automatic cuts in the 11 dives, 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays, plus a consideration cut in the 50 freestyle. She has school records in the 11 and six dives, and SEMO Conference records in the 11 dives and 200 medley relay. Ranked fifth in her class, she has an 11.393 GPA.

“Paige is an amazing athlete to hold the records in dives as she does when Poplar Bluff doesn’t even have a diving board,” said her coach Elizabeth Lewis, adding that it is a rarity to find an athlete who swims and dives so well. “[It] says a lot about her determination and self-drive. She is constantly putting others first and is a great leader to the team.”
