The Mules Booster Club has named Zoe Savat and Ben Stewart of Poplar Bluff High School the April Athletes of the Month, presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors. 

Stewart, a senior tennis player, set a new record this season with 56 career singles wins. This past weekend, he won the Class 2, District 1 Singles Championship in Cape Girardeau for the second consecutive year, and previously placed first at the Poplar Bluff and Farmington Invitationals. He has signed to play tennis for Greenville University in Illinois. In the classroom, Stewart maintains a 10.6 weighted grade point average. 

“Ben has worked hard during and before season to get to this point,” noted Charley Harper, his coach. 

Savat, a sophomore soccer player, has five goals and one assist so far this season. Her weighted GPA is 11.429, the coaching staff reported. 

“She is very respectful on and off the soccer field; she works hard in soccer and in the classroom,” stated Rusty Crafton, Savat’s coach. “She has been one of our most talented wings these past two years.”
