Counseling

At Poplar Bluff School District, we believe that supporting the whole child means more than just academics. Our dedicated team of certified school counselors is here to guide students through their academic journey, personal growth, and future planning—from Kindergarten through graduation.

We are proud to implement a comprehensive, district-wide counseling program based on the Missouri Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program, focusing on academic development, career readiness, and personal/social growth.

Our Approach

Our counseling program is designed to help students succeed not just in school, but in life. We focus on three key areas:

🎓 Academic Development

  • Helping students develop the skills they need to succeed in school
  • Supporting transitions between grade levels and buildings
  • Creating and maintaining individual learning plans

💼 Career Development

  • Guiding students through career exploration and goal-setting
  • Connecting students with real-world information about postsecondary options
  • Building job readiness skills that carry into adulthood

🤝 Personal & Social Development

  • Promoting self-awareness and emotional well-being
  • Encouraging respectful and inclusive interactions with others
  • Teaching safety, resilience, and problem-solving strategies

Therapy Dog Program

As part of our commitment to student well-being, our district also supports certified therapy dog programs in select schools. These dogs provide comfort, reduce anxiety, and help create a calming environment for students as they navigate the school day.

If you have questions or would like to connect with a counselor, please reach out to the contact number listed for your child’s school. We’re here to help every student grow, succeed, and feel supported—every step of the way.
