Multi-sport athletes from Poplar Bluff Junior and Senior High, both a male and female, have been chosen by the coaching staff to receive the prestigious 2022 Good Sports honor through the Missouri State High School Activities Association.

Haile Hall and Gatlin Taylor were awarded from the PBHS Class of 2022, and outgoing eighth graders Samiya Anders and Marcus Tabanera were selected from Junior High.

“Due to your behavior, positive role modeling and outstanding display of sportsmanship through your participation in interscholastic activities, you have been selected as the recipient of this Award of Excellence,” explained MSHSAA Communications Director Jason West in a letter.

Samiya has participated in cross country, track, basketball and soccer while in Junior High. She said she plans to pursue soccer in college. Marcus has played baseball, basketball and soccer since elementary school, he said, and hopes to play D1 baseball for a university.

Haile has run track for four years, and was a swim and dive team member for half the time. She has served as president and vice president of the Future Teachers of America, and was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Gatlin has wrestled for 10 years, golfed for four and played two years of football. He has served as a member of the FCA, Mule Barn and Beta Club.
